### Blocked Channels Overview

At Filmhub, we believe, and have tested at length, that titles perform best when they're distributed as widely as possible, which is how our Core plan is set up to work.

We also know that sometimes you need to keep a title off a particular Channel. Common reasons include:

- The title is already licensed there through another distributor
- You're distributing directly to that Channel
- You don't hold the rights for that Channel or territory
- You have a personal reason for keeping it off

Blocking a Channel or requesting your title be removed from a Channel is available via our [Filmhub Premium and Premium Plus Plans](https://help.filmhub.com/plans?hsLang=en).

Once upgraded, you'll be able to:

- Set which Channel to block in the [Avails](https://help.filmhub.com/en/articles/2663826-how-to-manage-your-avails-available-rights?hsLang=en) tab during the submission process.
- Request to have your title removed from a Channel.

### How to Block a Channel During Title Submission (Premium & Premium Plus Plans Only)

The 'Blocked Channels' tool is available on our [Filmhub Premium and Premium Plus Plans.](https://help.filmhub.com/plans?hsLang=en)

1. Prior to submitting your title to Filmhub, you can indicate which Channels need to be blocked in the '[Avails](https://help.filmhub.com/articles/2663826-how-to-manage-your-avails-available-rights?hsLang=en)' tab by entering the Channel name verbatim: ![image (45)](https://help.filmhub.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image%20(45).png?width=670&height=214&name=image%20(45).png)
2. This will prevent our Sales team from pitching the title to the selected 'Blocked Channels' once submitted.
3. See the [FAQ section below](https://help.filmhub.com/en/articles/2621288-blocking-channels?hsLang=en#unblock) on how to unblock a previously blocked Channel.

### How to Block a Channel That Has Licensed Your Title (Premium & Premium Plus Plans Only)

*Note*: *If an agreement was made for your title, such as a fixed fee license or a license addendum, that agreement may prevent us from taking it down, as both parties have already committed to it. Our team will review your title's licenses and let you know what's possible. If a removal isn't an option, we'll explain why and talk through alternatives with you.*

Requesting to have your title removed from a Channel is available on our [Filmhub Premium and Premium Plus Plans.](https://help.filmhub.com/plans?hsLang=en)

1. **Check where your title is licensed**: Within your Dashboard you can see what licenses have been issued for each one of your titles in two locations:
     1. 'Licensing Status' on the 'Home' page
     2. 'Licenses' tab within each title"
2. **Submit a Rights Update Request:** If you need to remove an active License from your title, [submit this form](https://pages.filmhub.com/title-update-request?hsLang=en) by selecting "Rights Updates" and providing the title name and the Channel(s) that need to be blocked.
3. **We'll review and handle the rest:** Our team will check your title's license terms. If a removal is possible, we'll send the request to the Channel and let you know as soon as it's been submitted. *Note: The amount of time it takes for the title to go offline depends on the Channel and is out of Filmhub’s control. Each channel has its procedures and timeline for removals but we typically see titles removed within 2-3 weeks. If you see that your title is still live after 3 weeks, reach back out to our team and we will follow up on your behalf.*
4. See the [FAQ section below](https://help.filmhub.com/en/articles/2621288-blocking-channels#Anchor2) on how to unblock a previously blocked Channel.

### Frequently Asked Questions

**Why was my removal request denied or put on hold?**

If an agreement was made for your title, like a fixed fee license or an addendum, it may prevent us from taking the title down, since the terms were agreed to when the license was signed. Our team will let you know if this applies to your title and walk you through your options.

**I submitted a removal request. Why is my title still live?**

Removals are processed by the Channel, not by Filmhub, and each Channel has its own timeline. Most titles come down within 2-3 weeks. If yours is still live after that, contact our team and we'll follow up for you. *Note: if your title is covered by a fixed fee license or addendum, it may not be eligible for removal. We'll let you know if that's the case.*

**My titles make the most money on Amazon, Apple, and Tubi. Why would I want my titles on any other Channels? Won't that cannibalize my revenue?**

While a handful of Channels will make a larg share of your revenue, there are a few important details you need to think about:

- **Small Channels grow.** Five years ago, nobody wanted their title on ad-supported services like Roku and Tubi. Now everyone is fighting to get there.
- **Channels pay similar rates.** We negotiate industry-standard rates or better. When someone says Tubi pays better than Plex, it usually just means Tubi has more viewers. What matters is maximizing views across all Channels.
- **Discovery happens on the Channels.** Most films without big studio marketing budgets are found through streaming algorithms, not ad spend. If you're not on the service where your genre's audience is browsing, how will they find you?

**How do I unblock a Channel that I had previously blocked?**

1. If you need to unblock an existing blocked channel from your title, [submit this form](https://pages.filmhub.com/title-update-request?hsLang=en) by selecting "Rights Updates" and providing the title name and the Channel(s) that need to be unblocked.
2. A member of the Filmhub team will reach out letting you know that the Channel has been unblocked and is available for pitching.
3. If the title meets the Channel's content and format requirements, our team will pitch the the title to the Channel. You do not need to make a specific request to pitch the Channel.
     1. To see each Channel's content and format requirements, click into their profile on the [Channel Partners page.](https://app.filmhub.com/channels)
