What Is Quality Control (QC)?
Learn what Quality Control (QC) is, why Filmhub reviews every title before distribution, and the difference between Standard and Premium QC.
What Is Quality Control (QC)?
Quality Control (QC) is the process Filmhub uses to verify that your title's assets (video, audio, captions, artwork, and metadata) are technically correct, complete, and ready for distribution before they reach viewers or channel partners.
Every title submitted to Filmhub goes through QC. This acts as a compliance check to confirm your assets meet the technical requirements of our channel partners, so your title can go live smoothly and without delay.
Why QC Matters
- Channel compliance: Streaming platforms (Amazon, Tubi, Apple TV, and others) each have their own technical requirements for the video, audio, and caption files they accept. QC confirms your title meets those requirements before we deliver it.
- Licensing opportunities: Passing QC is what makes your title eligible to be pitched to our channel partners. The tier of QC you pass determines which partners your title can be considered for.
What Gets Reviewed
QC covers:
- Video (format, quality, no read errors)
- Audio (format, quality, sync)
- Captions (format, sync with audio)
- Artwork
- Metadata
Standard QC vs. Premium QC
Filmhub offers two tiers of QC:
- Standard QC: Included with every submission. This streamlined review ensures your title's video, audio, and captions meet the basic technical needs of most of our channel partners, and that your title matches our [content policy].
- Premium QC: An optional, more comprehensive review — available as a Professional Service through paid plans or as a one-time purchase — that checks your title against the requirements of our most stringent partners (our Tier 1 channels). Premium QC also includes light technical fixes to help your title pass where possible.
In short: Standard QC opens the door to one portion of our channel partners. Premium QC opens the door to all of them, including those with the strictest technical bar.
After QC
If your title passes QC, our Licensing team begins pitching it to channels that match your title's content and technical profile. It's also worth knowing that individual channels may come back with their own additional requests or requirements during delivery. This is a normal part of matching a title to a specific partner's needs.
If a title doesn't pass, you'll get a notice explaining what needs fixing, and can resubmit (up to three total QC attempts).
